Add something they can ask you about, so the bio also gives them a way to start. If you never want to exchange photos, saying “maybe later” just postpones an awkward conversation. You can be friendly and direct in the same sentence.
What can you talk about?
Start with whatever made you click on the profile. If you both enjoy films, ask what they last watched that was actually worth the time. If their bio is brief, ask what sort of conversation brought them here. One specific question is usually easier to answer than “tell me about yourself.”

A photo request is still a choice
Someone can ask, and you can decline. If you have already said that you want text-only chat, you can simply point back to that preference. You do not owe a more convincing reason each time the question comes up.
Repeated pressure after a clear answer is a useful sign that the conversation is a poor fit. You can end it. Use the available block or report controls if the contact becomes unwanted or breaks the community guidelines.
